Overview of analytic workflows and infrastructure

The Pennsieve Platform is developing functionality for scalable and sustainable data analysis within the cloud. Our goal is to make cloud-based analysis available to all users of the Pennsieve platform without risking significant costs for the team that develops the Pennsieve platform. Therefore, we implemented mechanisms for users to register their own cloud-resources with our platform and enable Pennsieve to run analysis scripts within their own accounts.

Pennsieve also allows users to register their GitHub accounts with the platform to specify analytic 'apps' that can run within this infrastructure. All apps are dockerized and do not require any special Pennsieve clients, or interactions in order to be leveraged as a Pennsieve App. The Pennsieve infrastructure automatically deploys the app in your AWS account, ensures that data is available and returns any results from the analysis pipeline back to the Pennsieve platform.

We expect that this functionality will continue to grow and mature on the platform and are actively working with a number of groups to demonstrate capability through various use-cases.
