Overview of workspace and user management
Pennsieve workspaces provide investigators with a secure environment for scientific collaboration
Workspaces are the primary accounts on the Pennsieve platform. A workspace provides a secure environment to manage scientific data and share this with other users in the workspace. Datasets on the platform always belong to a single workspace and cannot be transferred or accessed across workspaces. Users on the Pennsieve platform can belong to multiple workspaces.
Users cannot create a new workspace without talking to the Pennsieve team. Typically, a workspace is associated with a grant funded project, a consortium, or a center. If you are interested in using Pennsieve for a collaborative project, please reach out to Dr. Wagenaar to discuss how to include this in your Grant application.
Workspace Roles
All users in a workspace have a role that determines how they can interact with other users and data within the workspace.
Role | Description |
---|---|
Owner | A workspace owner can manage a workspace, rename the workspace and manage all members of the workspace |
Collaborator | Standard role for users within a workspace |
Guest | A guest user in an organization can only access datasets if they are specifically invited to access the dataset. Guests cannot create new datasets or join teams in the workspace. |
