Getting Started with Pennsieve

How can I start to use Pennsieve?

The Pennsieve platform is used by a several consortia and programs as the platform for publishing datasets. Please follow the links below to find out more how to submit datasets to these repositories:

Publishing Data on the SPARC Portal

The SPARC repository is developed as part of the NIH SPARC initiative and has been used by SPARC funded investigator groups to curate and publish high quality datasets related to the autonomic nervous system.

Programs that use SPARC include: NIH SPARC, and HEAL RE-JOIN. SPARC is also accepting external datasets that are inline with the mission of the SPARC Repository.

Using Pennsieve to manage private data

The Pennsieve platform is organized into Workspaces. Labs, multisite studies, consortia, and programs utilize workspaces to privately manage, organize, and share data, and to publish datasets to public data repositories, such as the SPARC Portal and Pennsieve Discover.

Workspace is the new term for Organization

Workspace is the term we are now using to refer to an Organization. The features and mechanisms are the same, but now have a more intuitive name. Our documentation and programmatic features may use these terms interchangeably.

Accessing the Pennsieve Platform

Anyone can create a Pennsieve account to gain access to the Pennsieve Platform. Once logged in, users with invitations to a private workspace will be able to use the platform's full features. Users without workspace invitations (an External user), will be able to Submit a Dataset proposal to a repository supported by Pennsieve.

What can I do on the platform if I don't belong to a workspace?

Do you have a dataset that you'd like to publish publicly, but don't have access to a private workspace? Users without access to private workspaces can submit dataset proposals to public repositories. Repository admins will review the dataset proposal to make sure it's a good fit for their repository and then contact you with next steps for dataset curation and submission.

Need a workspace invitation?

Workspace Administrators manage invitations to their workspaces. Not sure who your workspace Administrators are? Reach out to us at [email protected] and we can help connect you.
